Performance Racing Seats are universal and can be fitted to all vehicles however the seat will need to be mounted to a seat rail which is specific to each vehicle. Companies such as Bride and Recaro make racing seat rails especially designed for particular car models, or otherwise you can customize your stock one to fit an aftermarket racing seat. There are two types of seats. The first is a side mount, which uses brackets that are installed to the floor and to the side of the seat. The second type is one that sits on top of rails and bolt in from the bottom. You simply un-bolt your factory seats and bolt the new rails in place without any other modifications. If you plan on using a racing seat with another company's seat rail, make sure that it is compatible before you waste your money and time.
Racing seats add a visual sense of performance to your ride however racing seats also utilize lighter weight materials than stock seats which is a plus in itself. Anytime you can reduce weight off your vehicle is a good thing. If you are upgrading your seats to racing seats then another thing you may want to do is change out your stock seat belts to a four or five point racing harness. Although many racing seats will work with your stock seat belts adding a racing harness not only adds to the look of your interior but will also keep you secured in your racing seat more securely than the stock seat belts.
Racing seats also come in fixed back and reclining backs. If you are adding racing seats to your daily driver then you may want to consider a reclining back racing seat. These give you more adjustably when trying to adjust to your desired comfort. Racing seats can be installed fairly easily by anyone but if you feel uneasy about installing them yourself then many automotive shops will install them for you.
